The Tutorfair team are now taking on new schools and offering online Maths tutoring for free! Interested? Then you can register your school here. To qualify, your school must be situated in a rural or coastal area and have at least 50% pupil premium eligibility.
“There are a many volunteer tutoring programs running in our cities, which is great,” remarked Pete Kirby, the charity’s director. “But we wanted to offer something different, something that could help any student, regardless of location.
“Every day we see the impact that tutoring can have, and we want to ensure as many students can benefit as possible.”
Tutorfair On-Demand has been successfully piloted in five schools, and are they are now ready to supply even more. “We have loads of great Maths tutors signed up,” continued Pete, “all happy to donate their time and help their students achieve higher grades.”
Emily, a student from Pool Heyes Academy, has received 14 free tutorials since the app’s launch. We asked Emily what keeps her using the app. She said that she likes "that you can communicate with different tutors [who] can explain it in more detail than the teachers can in class."
She would recommend the app to other students: "If you are struggling with Maths then [the tutors] can explain it to you, even if it's a 'stupid' question that you didn’t want to ask in class.”
Emily’s teacher, Natalie, followed up saying: "It's been incredibly useful for [our students] to have the opportunity to ask those ‘stupid’ questions that they might not feel able to ask at school. It's also been great to read their transcripts. I've seen how brilliant the tutors have been at diagnosing the issue and taking it right back to basics where necessary."
Following the successful pilot, Tutorfair On-Demand will be rolled out across the UK. If you think your students would benefit from additional support, register your school here.
